Week 7 and finally. FINALLY. we could put the PB3s behind us. Well, sort of. We started out by viewing all the finished products and knee-jerk reacting to those produced by the people sitting around our table. You can see those reviews here. It was a little concerning to hear Brian follow up my film by saying “Well even if you don’t get much out of this course, it’s nice to be able to make those short films for family documentation like that”. I’ll let the marks do the talking, but I wasn’t sure whether this meant I missed the point of the exercise or something here.

After some time to write notes and reflections, we then moved onto splitting into groups for the fourth project. I was placed in a trio with Hazel, whom I have previously completed class exercises with and was happy to work with again, and Asha – whom I hadn’t yet met but has produced some very impressive work in her first two PBs. My fear of having “dead weight” in the group was immediately alleviated… and replaced with a fear that I myself could be viewed as dead weight!

Nonetheless the three of us began discussing ideas for our topic – Institutions. We decided at the time to focus in on the ABC — although this changed by the end of the week 8 workshop. After some discussion of how we planned to collaborate, I think we left the workshop feeling optimistic about working together successfully and achieving a good result in this final project.
