Presentation Thoughts

Thoughts from the class’ presentations

The presentations on both Tuesday and Thursday were all incredibly impressive and the innovation and original ideas presented by all my class mates both inspired and scared me.

Jack and Thomas – Shopping Centres

This particular presentation impressed me due to their research and innovation. The exploration of movement was really impressive and despite going in different directions in terms their areas of study they both highlighted the different aspects of movement with such impressive innovation.

Indri, Isobel and Nicole – Online

This presentation which looked into the scary aspects of online isolation was another super impressive exploration of space, both technically and thematically. I thought the video was nothing short of amazing, the editing choices and skills really highlight the superficiality of a space that we all use but hardly understand.

Bridie, James and Riley – Doors

This presentation really impressed me due it’s handing of such a broad topic. The idea of doors opening into an individual, personalised space is such a fascinating topic and one that the group excellently explored.

Tyler and Grace – Carpark

This presentation did an amazing job of exploring a space that conventionally would not be labelled as ‘sacred’ and truly explored its potential. Their exploration on both a sonic and visual level successfully subverted my own preconceptions about that particular space, which is a testament to their work!

Jirapat & Kay – Block Arcade

I loved how throughout the entirety of this presentation I felt like I was in the arcade. Initially I have always been skeptical of the arcade buildings in that part of the city but Jirapat and Kay’s exploration of this space really gave it justice to it.

Tong – Old Melb Gaol

I think that Tong’s presentation really gave justice to a space that has been appropriated in recent times. There is a lot of dark history in that area and I think that Tong did an awesome job highlighting the bleakness that lies within the walls of the Gaol.

Alyssa and Brooke – Baskers

I loved the use of the interviews in this video, it really outlined the different perspectives to both music both as a craft and profession. The dichotomy between the two baskers’ approach was really well portrayed and highlighted different approaches to a common space/passion.

Georgia, Tim and Daniel – Tote

This three part presentation was super impressive. I loved how all three used different and innovative ideas and practices to try and portray the same physical space. The most impressive thing about this presentation was that I saw three seperate outcomes all derived from the same core space, really well done!

Last person I saw at the tote

Dalena and Belinda – The Angel

I loved the choice of location for the project, one that is widely seen but hardly appreciated. The video was the shining light in this presentation as it was nothing short of breathtaking. The editing, intensity, sound and narrative were are excellent and really explained the site.
