Short critical analysis on me never going to class

Here is a self reflective retrospective analysis of my terrible attendance this semester.

Class attendance is paramount to any student that wants to average over 60 or 70 percent. Often students take advantage of the university system and skip class under the foolish young university student manifesto of ‘Ill catch up later’. Surprisingly in the case of Andrew (me) that isn’t the case and instead a series of extenuating circumstances and crippling laziness have been provided in the myriad of excuses i’ve used so far.

I would consider myself as studious and result driven student that is very serious about one day getting a job in the film industry. Despite this, my attendance to easily my favourite class EAC, has been suboptimal to say the least. Is this lack of attendance a result of laziness? Self consciousness? Or a lack of organisation? It is fairly evident that it is a mixture of all three.

I will give myself a reprieve for about 3 weeks of my absence due to my ‘dickhead’ boss refusing to not roster me on a Monday, despite insisting that I wasn’t available. In recent years I would’ve simply not have gone to work but unfortunately I need to pay rent.

After missing the opening few weeks due to work and finally attending in week 3 or 4, I felt a disconnection to the class. This was due to no one knowing me and the class being way more social then a normal uni class (A testament to Alexia). This was my self-conscious reasoning for not attending class. Unlike the relatively valid ‘work’ excuse this excuse is an exemplification of my many personal insecurities and issues and is an embarrassing excuse at best.

Throughout my university life I have always have always had a grip on homework and punctuality. For some reason these good attributes eluded me during the semester and resulted in me not completing much of my prescribed homework. I more then once found myself using my lack of work as an excuse for not attending class, week 9 being an example (although I did write but failed to submit a review on Absurdia).

My attendance throughout the semester has been sketchy at best and if anything someone like me would benefit with stricter attendance rules. One could content that my excuses for not going to class are definitely a by-product of a much more important deep rooted problem I still attribute it to me being really lazy.
