KEYING
I came in to edit today on my lonesome, in order to do the keying that everyone was worried about! Keying is quite easy, and I would’ve loved to show them how easy it is! That being said, I’m not a professional, I just know the basics, but it’s a good basic skill to have, and I find it comes in handy during times like these.
It was quite fun putting the greenscreen footage together as it’s quite funny and lighthearted footage which had me laughing. We had a lot of fun on set whilst filming the dance scenes and the close-ups of the band member’s faces with their funny signs.
I chose to put in a temporary image of a police line up which I found on google, just so I could see how it looked behind the characters; as I knew that Sonia was making one from scratch, though had not yet finished. In conjunction with this, I used the Ultra Key on Premier Pro to remove the green and some of the green cast from the actors/actress, then overlayed it with a black-white faded effect from the monochrome presets. It looked pretty nice and I’m proud of how it turned out in the end! as we worried about the quality of the green screen scenes as a whole. Though, from what I can tell, it really helped set the fun mood we were trying to achieve!
While I was in the editing suites I also worked on some sliding shots with the red footage we had; I learned how to do a few different sliding effects, and how to adjust the duration of the transition. It was great developing my skills in the studio and learning new things which will aid me in my media practice overall. I’m glad I was able to have some alone time to work as I think I really was able to focus in my attention with no distractions around.
