Maybe not so inspirational, but recently i have been thinking since i have now finished school, as one of many human beings, i should really have more knowledge of the world around me in reference to both the past and current day. I was introduced by a friend of mine to a YouTube channel called ‘Vice’ which documents world affairs. I watched one in particular on the warlords of Africa: ‘The Cannibal Warlords of Africa’, revealing the harsh living conditions certain parts of Africa face, and not only that, but how general’s raised their troops in the civil war (young children raised in violent conditions) and how inhumane and different they do so. It then got me thinking, how could i ever make an impact on these peoples lives? How could i help them? They are so used to living this way, growing up alongside guns, drugs and violence, that i would just be seen as an intrusion. There are many signs of the western world becoming a part of theirs with children roaming the streets in Lil Wayne and 50 cent shirts,  Nike runners and fake Chanel handbags but making their world more like ours would seem foreign to them. Additionally, looking at another aspect, without the media having the ability to cover topics such as these, we would be unconnected and unaware of fellow countries conditions. Imagine a world without the media, how would i ever be able to learn about Stephen Hawking’s theory on space and time? I heavily rely on documentaries these days to provide me with knowledge to increase my awareness of the world, the universe even.
Again, just me thinking aloud, if i were to keep writing god knows where i would end up, i think far too much.
