Silent reading.

lindsay beam

You are most likely reading this in your head right now, how do we have the ability without being taught to silently read?
Adrian Miles brought this up briefly  in last weeks symposium while discussing the matter of validity of things on the internet and how can we judge what to trust?
Personally, the news source i trust most is abc and the age websites as i find myself validating news i see on social media through such sites as abc and the age. It is insane how easily social media users can send out and absorb false information as social media sites like Facebook become a part of users daily lives, building a semi trust between the site and its user. So, i do understand how someone could validate their information through Facebook but personally, i have seen others send out false news and scandals (lightheartedly) and being on that other side has driven me to find a trustworthy online source to validate absorbed information of interest.

I have been finding these symposiums interesting as we have a chance to openly ask questions about the readings however, i did really enjoy the first symposium of Adrian rambling about various topics evolving around the subject (like what is a book? what is an essay?). I’m finding that i am getting less out of these Q&A ‘symposiums’ in comparison to the introductory lectures.
