Collaboration – True to Form #23

This semester has actually been a pretty solitary one, while other groups teamed up for PB4 I decided to tackle it by myself. Mainly because my choice of major work was not one that necessitated help or much creative input from others. The technique was time consuming, but consisted of things I was able to do such as the painting and even documenting the process was not complicated enough to involve other people.

Although at times it would have been nice to get input from others about editing, music/sound choices and to help with photographing me while I was painting, which I wasn’t able to do. There are some interesting framing options that I would have liked to employ when documenting the process to make the film more aesthetically pleasing.

I would have liked to collaborate more with my classmates, even though we had quite a few in-class exercises, I found that they were very short and because groups would switch it was not long enough to establish creative connections and feel truly collaborative as it did in my previous studio where we were placed in groups and tasked to create a comedy webseries.

The collaboration aspects of my courses are always my favourite part, as it is where I have the opportunity to meet other like-minded people and find people to work with in the future. I think if I could re-do this studio I would definitely get more involved with my classmates work and perhaps ask others if they wanted to get involved with mine. I am going to be working with some of the people from this studio on a film job, the goal of which is to encourage regional disadvantaged high school students to choose to attend university, so I am going to be collaborating more in the future, which is exciting.
