Actuality Media – True to Form #16

Last year I found out about Actuality Media, a documentary outreach program for student filmmakers, and immediately wanted to get involved. Only to find out that I was a few months past deadline and would have to wait until 2017 to try out. Another year past and Paul sent out a call out for us to apply, I initially struggled between whether to go to Nepal, Peru or Morocco (what a great struggle to have though, right?). I’ve always wanted to go to Nepal for some reason, probably because my well-traveled older sister (15 years older) showed us this documentary of the Himalayas and I’ve never been able to forget about it.

I also wanted to go to Peru as I had a close friend growing up who is Peruvian, and she would always share with me the local foods and tell me stories about the country.

Lastly, Morocco, my sister said that this is where she would go if she couldn’t go to Nepal as it’s a very vibrant country with many different sorts of people and would provide a lot of interesting subjects for filming. So I chose Morocco as the Nepal trip was basically full, until I found out today that that I would have to take a leave of absence as the trip doesn’t return to Australia until the 13th of August which is well is well into semester 2 of uni.

I had my interview with one of the members of the company last night which went well and it all sounds really interesting. So, I’m thinking Peru which lasts from early June to early July.
