Film 3: Part 7 [28 August]

Developing innovative and creative visions seems to be what Film 3 is all about, and after realising this I’ve begun to actively collect images and ideas that I think would make for interesting film-experiments/exercises. This new habit has already got me thinking more about the things I experience in my daily life – and in our final class of week 6 these ideas were given the chance to develop.

To close week 6 we completed numerous writing exercises in class – with the aim of narrowing down potential ideas for our ‘final’ Film 3 experiments/explorations/films/productions. I found the exercises to be really helpful, not only did they ignite new ideas and push forward older ones BUT they also helped me realise how much we’ve covered in the last 6 weeks. Listening to other’s ideas was also quite inspiring and the variety of concepts shared gave me some confidence in aspiring to create more unique and unconventional film/video projects.

It was useful to brainstorm all the different things that interest/excite me (characters, places, ideas, events, etc.). I think this allowed me to evaluate some of my ideas and it also made room for new ideas to sprout as I realised that some of my interests hold great potential for film/video experimentation.

In the next few posts I’ll summarise and unpack some of the ideas spawned during this session.
