The Cool Shortcuts Post

Since first teaching myself how to use After Effects and Premiere I’ve been slowly learning new tricks and settings which have definitely improved my overall efficiency in using the programs – especially Premiere, which I’ve been using a lot this year.

1. View a Panel in Full Screen [~]
Really useful for fine tuning the timeline and previewing video panels. I’ve always just dragged the video window to be relatively large (or used a second monitor) but this shortcut seems like it’ll make previewing video much easier.

2. Toggle ‘Snapping’ on/off [S]
Snapping is generally a useful function and definitely speeds up the editing process, however sometimes I find it’s easier to make fine edits with Snapping turned off. This shortcut makes it way easier to toggle Snapping on & off, saving me precious editing seconds.

3. Ripple Delete [Shift+fn+Delete]
This one will save me a lot of time as up until now the ripple delete function has required 2-3 separate clicks each time. Being able to Ripple Delete with 0 clicks will certainly make things easier – especially by paring this with the ‘Cut’ shortcut. This also taught me how to ‘forward delete’ on Mac which is really useful as (on Windows) I used to use the ‘forward delete’ function all the time: BONUS shortcut! fn+Delete = ‘Forward Delete’.
