I’ve found shooting at night to be quite a relaxing and educational experience. I’ve learned a lot about the capabilities of my camera and the ways in which I can use it to capture visually interesting compositions. Shooting with no concrete plan has also been an interesting way to develop new ideas – by shooting and editing the footage I’ve collected, many new concepts have arisen.
SomeĀ of these ideas will make it into my final few videos, however there have been a few that I decided would be too ambitious to attempt at this point in time. These ideas will not be forgotten, and I’ve written them down for future reference and exploration. The fact that I was able to ignite so many ideas through just shooting is something I find quite impressive and I think it certainly proves that projects can be written partially/completely via the shooting and editing process.
I’m looking forward to seeing where all these new ideas take me AND to continue developing concepts through the shooting of footage. If there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that I should always be looking for interesting images to capture on film – simply shooting whatever I can AND THEN reflecting upon the shots I collect later on.
