Video of the Week: ‘The Now – Ray Collins’

This is a really interesting and inspiring short video that looks into the process behind ‘wave photographer’ Ray Collins’ amazing work. I think his approach to the art of photography/videography is spot on, and much of what he believes is similar to my own creative ideas. He talks about what attracts him to capturing images of the ocean and what he aims to achieve in his work – the ideas he discusses are very similar to what we have been recently exploring in Film3. I find it amazing that Ray is colourblind and is still able to produce such vibrant and colourful images, however as he states (and as I believe), light is the most important aspect of a photo – with colour being less crucial. The interesting lighting effects he manages to capture in his work are truly spectacular.
