Media 1 Practical [Week 12]

In our final practical workshop for the semester we continued to work hard on our group assignments. Jeremy, Cheyenne and I finalised our podcast recording plans and established the manner in which we would progress through our discussions of mediums. At this stage the website which we plan to host our podcasts on has been constructed and a separate page for each episode has already been formatted.

Each group presented a small sample of the media artefacts they had been working on over the last few weeks. It was interesting to see the directions others had gone in to report on their media topics. I noticed that a few groups were also using a website/blog format to present their information but I also noted that no one else was using a podcast format.

After presenting our ‘in-the-works’ website and discussing what we would be discussing in the podcasts we received a fair amount of positive feedback. Robbie noted that he was looking forward to seeing our website come together, and our classmates seemed supportive of our multi-medium approach to completing the project. It was somewhat relieving to get this feedback however at the same time, I’m feeling slightly anxious regarding whether we will be able to achieve everything we plan to. Hopefully once we get the podcasts recorded and I have something to edit this feeling will subside.

I’ll end this post by sharing yet another video essay from the brilliant Tony Zhou. This one’s a little quirky, and examines a very specific aspect of production design in film. I really love how Zhou edits these short presentations. Give it a watch to see what I’m talking about.
