The Edit #4

edit5

I know that Project Brief 3 has already been submitted, but I had this blog post already written. I just forgot to post it. But it’s better late than never, I guess.

So, at this point, I was editing the my subject’s voice over for the second time, because I had decided I didn’t like the content from the first interview. So again, I faced the struggle of editing out the ‘um’s and ‘uhh’s, especially those that he accidentally joined onto the preceding word. Sometimes, I ended up having to cut the whole sentence out. However, this time around, I decided that I would actually keep about two ‘um’s in there somewhere, just to make the whole thing sound more natural. In the end, it gave it a bit more of a sentimental feel, which is what I was going for. But what I found most difficult about this edit was the duration. There was too much content which I deemed important, that it was difficult trying to find something to cut out. The original cut went for four minutes, which was way too long. Eventually I had to cut out some of the actual questions just to fit it all in. But in the end, I realized that those questions probably weren’t important anyway. So it all works out, I guess.
