Throwback Thursday: The Gutter

With the end of semester approaching, I thought it would be good to write a little throwback blog post. So, I was watching this movie the other day called Super, by director James Gunn, with Ellen Page and Rainn Wilson (Dwight from The Office). It’s pretty much a comic superhero wannabe movie, where a man tries to win his wife back by becoming the Crimson Bolt, and fighting crime. There was a part in it where they were sitting around, waiting for crime to happen, and Ellen Page’s character talks about how being a superhero is so much more boring than in the comics. to which, Rainn Wilson’s character explains that they are in between panels. The whole discussion reminded me about the second weeks reading, Blood in the Gutter. Obviously, they didn’t go into as much depth as the reading did, but they did talk about how in between panels, either nothing can happen, or a lot can happen. I thought this was clever, considering the scene was almost just after a montage, in which so much happens in between ‘panels’.
