The Second Reading of Week 10

To be honest, I didn’t really understand the relevance of the topic from this reading. I could see why it was set as a reading for a media subject, but I struggled to relate it to what we’re currently focusing on right now. The reading was an extract on the topic of National Broadband Network (or, NBN), from Media International Australia, Incorporating Culture & Policy (2014).

The reading analyses ‘high-speed Broadband’ to a deeper level, and explains that it represents more than just a faster downloading and uploading speed, (or in other words, connection speed). As the reading mentions, “we must analyse it in conjunction with its speed of perception, implementation and adoption” (M. Dias, M.Arnold , M.Gibbs, B. Nansen & R. Wilken, Media International Australia, Incorporating Culture & Policy, 2014).
