The Grand Budapest Hotel

A couple of weeks ago, I finally watched Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel. I had this movie built up in my head from what other people had told me, and I was not disappointed. It was a quirky and childish movie, but also had an interesting plot.

One thing that really caught my eye was the way that Anderson played with the aspect ratio. The whole movie is told through one of the character’s reminiscing, and every time it showed the actual visuals for it, the aspect ratio turned from 16:9 to 4:3. I just found this an interesting way to differ what was in the past to what was in the present.
