I was fortunate enough to interview Nicole Ma on Zoom to discuss her journey into a filmmaking career, working on critically-acclaimed documentary feature Putuparri and the Rainmakers, and her hopes for the future of this industry. Listening to her experiences has opened my eyes to the largely serendipitous nature of this profession, and that it is possible to separate the socially perceived hindrances of her identity from her art and artistry.
