“Parallel Action”
The gangster movies are one of the most enduring and popular film genres, they could date back to the early days of film during the silent era. The famous gangster movies have The Untouchables(1987), Akira(1988), Miller’s Crossing(1990) and so on. My research project start with looking at two gangster movies, one is The Godfather(1972) directed by Francis Ford Coppola and another is A better tomorrow(1986) directed by John Woo. I found the “parallel action” of baptism scene in The Godfather is very interesting. Therefore, I decided to do a similar exercise of “parallel action”, my research report will also reflect on my process of working. From the process, I learnt that sound and editing playing an important role with this sense of “parallel action”. Furthermore, this project also help me to understand the role of director and help me improve my skill.
