With the development and change of technology, more and more scientific and technological elements and means have replaced the traditional shooting techniques and been widely used in modern film and television works. Especially for science fiction, action, and suspense movies, the use of so-called special effects instead of living action has become a common operation in the current film shooting process.
Nolan: “ Our next film will be our most ambitious project ever, we planned to detonate a nuclear bomb in the downtown L.A.”
Interviewer: “ That’s really ambitious and dramatic! The cgi cost must be very expensive!”
Nolan: “….What cgi?”
That is a joke, but yes it is ture. Nolan doesn’t like cgi or vfx. He doing most everything for real. He had a lot of ideas about how to make CGI works in real life. He likes to use a variety of scenes and props to complete the real filming. What he gave us is a visual feast of the film if you watch it in cinema.
