Media Bias in (Mis)Representation

Synopsis

We created a series of media artefacts that focused on media misrepresentation of minority groups like the Asian and Sudanese communities that are effected by negative media representations in the Australian media. Starting with exploring the information on RMIT ABC Factcheck, we found various false information when compared to mainstream media news articles and started our exploration of misrepresentations of minority groups. The artefacts that present our research include a piece-to camera report which outlines the dehumanising of those minority groups especially during the Covid period, an interview podcast with representatives from the Sudanese community and how media has degraded their community, info-graphics and a TikTok video.
