A Look Into The Cinematic World of Paul Thomas Anderson

Paul Thomas Anderson is a filmmaker whose visual language compliments the narrative tremendously, with all shots possessing their own importance through the type of shot used and when they are used. With over 24 years of directorial experience, we can analyse changes and developments in Anderson’s directorial style. Some elements I looked into in this piece include Anderson’s film opening sequences, visual representation of power in the narrative and thematic similarities between three of his films including “Magnolia” (1999), “There Will Be Blood” (2007) and “The Master” (2012).
