Episode 6: Hope

Throughout this podcast, we’ve experienced an array of different emotions. But in the tumultuous year that is 2020, we can’t forget the most important one, Hope.

Act 1 – Maddy

“Hoping Together” is an audio play following three housemates, all of whom are feeling discouraged by the Victorian social distancing rules but in place, and are sharing their hopes and future aspirations with each other. This was a very new process to me, as I have very little experience scriptwriting and little experience producing a piece of this medium.

 

 

Act 2 – ‘Hope to Reunite with Pipi’ by Evelyn(Xinyu wu)

I had to return to China because of the outbreak in Australia. At the same time, a kitten that has been with me for over three years was stuck in Melbourne for some reasons. In this story, I will tell the difficulties of trying to bring him back to China. Although I haven’t succeeded so far, I still looking for the day that I reunite with him.

Act 3 – ‘Our Hopes During 2020’ by Kaleisha Crundall

This story features people from around the globe who reflect on this year and their hopes and dreams for the future. Using voice-recordings, I seek to to give the listener an intimate insight into hope, and what that sounds like in the year 2020. This process gave me a deeper understanding of creating audio scenes using music and sound effects, whilst working with the voice to guide the listener through the story.
