SUMMARY:
A deliberately filmed compilation of colour-grading experiments that explores colour theory.
Colour theory has always been so fascinating me in many aspects. It’s something that I’ve always been keen to experiment with. There’s just so much you can do with them and it can convey so many different meanings. I took advantage of some of our class exercises and bringing a new perspective to it through this exercise alongside one of our ZOOM exercises.
Throughout the process, I kept thinking about ways I can push this further. It was a lot of adjusting the right colours and seeing which level of saturation and brightness works best fit with each edits. I thought it was particularly hard trying to find the right balance of colours, especially I don’t quite understand how complementary colours work. The process of colour-grading just makes me think a lot about how important it is to understand how colours work and how to make the most out of it.
This experiment made me realize that there’s so much you can do with colours. I’ve learned ways colours can convey meaning and immediately change the tone of a scene just by slightly adjusting its hues, saturation or brightness.
