Every day Jim Jaworski averts a major train incident. As the station host of Auburn station, Jim announces the arrival and departure of every train and always keeps an eye on passenger safety. Nearing retirement, Jim finds it hard to replace the sense of community he has found at Auburn, and reflects on the memories he will cherish when his time at Metro comes to a close. NOW DEPARTING PLATFORM 1 is a 7 minute documentary that shines a light on an unusual profession, and celebrates a sense of community within a local railway station.
