Reflection:

What I’ve discovered about noticing through this assignment is more than pervious assessments. When I looked though the camera it was a different world. a world full of beautiful lights. during the processing I started to wondering what is going to happen if the lights disappear. .Then I noticing that the darkness and lights are complementary to each other. How to prove the exist of the lights ? I believe the answer was the darkness. Why people created artificial lights ? is because of the lights make people can see in the dark, through my work I combined natural lights and artificial lights trying to compare two lights source. The result is more than I expected, the reason to combined two lights resources is because while I’m filming I am noticing when I tried to film the sky the artificial lights effect the result of the footage. I started to realize “ lights pollution“ is a serious problem. According to the Australian Sky & Telescope 70 percent of human living in the lights pollution, artificial lights lead to the lights pollution has caused 20 percent of the world’s population to be unable to see the Milky Way with the naked eye. Many people have lost the night sky, and the culprit is our light that has caused sky fade. The purpose of using two lights resources is allows people to understand the significant of light pollution and metaphor for the protection of the environment. Not only noticing the lights, also I noticed the relation between nature and lights. All the living creatures are the prove of the lights exist, during the project filming, I met lots of wild life. When the sunlight appear all the animals are going out. Using those footage of wild life on the other hand is trying to express the environmental protection as well. In terms of nonfiction I found that the abstract can express the true emotion that I want to. Event though people may do not understand the work. It still has some beautiful shots I believe it can bring consensus to the audience. while the editing stage I noticed the reality on camera can also be abstract. On the other hand abstractionism can also be combined with realism. Although my project is abstract, it still can be reality.

Nonfiction is quite evolved for me. From the beginning of creation, I am wondering what general and what style of the project I want. For myself nonfiction is not unfamiliar, I love to watch documentaries and I filmed one before as well. so, for this work I start to capture the reality through the camera. For my opinion “real” is that what ever happened, it was exist. Camera is the tool to record this moment, so I think existence is reasonable, even if only record in a second, it’s still the “real “it’s still existed, you cannot denial it happened. So, in this project camera is like another eye to me, and everything I capture in the project was real.

In the noticing, it evolved a lot. From started I just trying to noticing the lights surround me. Until the shooting days I am noticing more than just lights, creatures is closely related to the lights. So, I started to noticing everything happened around me. I found in my process I discovered the beauty of the nature and the charming of the urban. The whole process is very smooth, I did not think of it as task, I enjoyed the whole process of filming. When I constantly shuttle in the city and nature I am noticing the wonder of nature and human creativity.

I’ve learnt lots of new things, new thoughts and new techniques during this semester. Noticing is one of the biggest gains. I learnt how important to wondering to noticing in our daily life. When I used the mark techniques to be noticing.  I always experience the familiar and unfamiliar. When I think I know somewhere or someone well, until I am noticing around the whole world is more beautiful. Secondly, I do not like reading, but through this semester I got into the habit of reading share to the others what I’ve read and use what I’ve learnt from the reading. Third outcome I’ve learnt this semester was respect other people’s creative works, I always got inspire by other people’s work. For example on the second assessment I learnt new editing techniques by Mia. So the main point is to communication with others respect the feedback and advice from others.

In conclusion the outcome of this whole semester can be summary as following :

• Noticing more it will widen my mind.
• Reading is significant for develop my work and rich my knowledge.
• Be humble when I watch someone else’s work it always inspire me.
• Communicate with others, they will always have interesting idea that could support mine.
