Short Synopsis:
‘Suffer for your art’ – anon
For this film we researched Japanese horror films like Iron Man Tetsuo, Pulse/Kairo and Audition and a avant garde anime by the name of Serial Experiments Lain (1999) and to an extent Satoshi Kon’s Perfect Blue. Other influences/research include films from art house cinema from the likes of directorial influences such as Lars von Trier, Darren Aronofsky, Cronenberg and Dario Argento. There is no real plot to the film. Instead, it focuses more to the aesthetics and iconography of these certain films. In a sense it is a culmination of all of the film and anime that we appreciate. This really was a collaborative effort and we put a lot of effort into this. Without the following people the film would have never been able to assume production in the first place. We would like to extend our gratitude to the actresses (Xanthe Sefton and Melissa Paul), and to the director of photography (Simon Ravenhill).
