Week#3 workshop

Here’s what we will be doing and discussing this week.

  1. Finishing off Haiku exercise
  2. Discussion of this week’s reading (Scott McCloud) and Liam’s lecture.
  3. View and discuss some examples of past student PB2s and blog posts
  4. Work time on PB2 and blogs
  5. Project Brief 2 and Blogs (rough cut – feedback in groups)

If we have time we might watch Tony Zhou’s short piece on ‘How Does an Editor Think and Feel’ from his excellent ‘Every Frame a Painting’ channel.

For past examples for no.3  above we will look and talk about these – note, as per our discussion of editing, a lot of the meaning here is in the gaps and discussion that takes place outside of these media objects in class. Many aspects of them are admirable and successful but they aren’t 100% models of what you should do. Think of them as starting points for you – inspirations.

Blog post examples:

  • Harriet – on a reading about sound
  • Harriet – on Haiku
  • Michael – on What is Media?
  • Anna – inspiration for documentaries
  • Wen Sem – photographs in the park
