Week#6 Workshop

This week’s workshop is centred around an exercise that is designed to give you more experience with filming (and working as a team) with the SonyMC50. Unlike last week we are experimentingwith the mobility of the camera and the expressive potential of the single (continuous) shot/take.

This short excerpt from Lee R. Bobker’s Elements of Film (1974) succinctly sets out the principles of film composition we are working with here.

Pre-production for these sort of shoots (any shoots actually!) is vital. Here is a useful example (from Paul Ritchard) which shows the process of script to storyboard to floorplan.

Here is a storyboard template that may be useful (we’ll bring some printed copies to class).
