Jack on the summary of industrial and post industrial media. Sam on my rants. Joss too.

INDUSTRIAL

  • capital intensive (very very expensive to make, distribute, view)
  • scarcity (of access to tools for making, and audiences – how many of us own a TV station versus a blog?)
  • so with this ‘big wall’ around it self treated itself and defined itself as a technical and professional elite

POST INDUSTRIAL

  • cost of making and distribution approaches zero
  • excess of tools for making, access to audiences, and expertise
  • industrial media gets more or more defensive about what ‘matters’ while new forms emerge (vlogging for example)
