So, in our first studio we introduced ourselves. Filled out a schedule for afternoon tea. A schedule for taking notes and photographs of the studio in situ. Mentioned materialism, agency, assemblage, and documentary. Talked about economies of scarcity and excess and what that might mean for us as learners. Got a list of everyone’s blog, and created new blogs for those without. Discussed what might constitute participation, and proposed a simple protocol for everyone to assess their own participation. (This will be documented via your blogs.) Talked about nonlinear dynamics. Touched on how stories are anthropomorphic (“species centric”) and what other devices, apart from stories, might be available for time based audiovisual media. Set reading for Thursday (half of the Rushkoff) and you need to bring three questions/curiosities/concerns/wonderings from the reading to Thursday’s studio. How your list of participation tasks need to become actions (verbs), not qualities or aspirational nouns.
