I edited a section of our group work, overall the shots were super hard to colour correct as it was quite dark so I tired lifting the exposure without creating too much grain. I also chose to add music just into the end section, i wanted the conversation without music to add more realism and the music at the end to add a bit more suspense and edginess to the shots.

I think my skills in efficient editing have definitely improved I whipped this up in an hour and a half total. I think I have learnt how to prioritise important footage and how to position it in order to tell a story. This was more of a little fun side project to edit together the day into a short clip but I think overall it captures what happened in the day. Obviously its nothing cinematic, its just s step by step visual of a day.

One thing I have tried to push a bit more this semester is colour correction, with this video I edited the really basic components such as exposure, highlights, shadow etc. I would love to push this over my final year of this course because when you can really understand colour correction I think it really works in your favour. Despite not quite getting the colour right and cohesive in this video I liked trialling with what worked and didn’t work through my edit process.

All in all this semester has been really great, a little stressful and confusing at times but I can definitely say I can take away learning about lighting, three point light setup, over the shoulder conversation shots, focus pulls, colour correction, shot construction, the importance of audio and only shooting a shot if it looks perfect.
