Workshop Groups for tomorrow (Week 8, Thursday 27 April)

Listed here: Week 8 workshop groups

The name in italics belongs to the person workshopping their work tomorrow.

We will continue with this plan to workshop in small groups of changing members until Week 10, then decide if we want to change the system or continue.

We will also talk tomorrow about a system for sending on work ahead of time (say, the Sunday before the Wednesday/Thursday sessions).

See you tomorrow!

Presentations

Congratulations on all of your presentations yesterday; as I adjourned with the panelists, phrases such as ‘blown away’ were on high rotation.

Also, thanks for weathering the storms of unreliable technology, and helping each other with solutions.

On Wednesday (first session Week 8, 27 April) we will begin with a follow up with a chance for you to feedback to each other, and to watch the videos we missed (namely Liam’s, due to technical glitches, and the full video presentations from Marco and Olivia, which were watched by the panel after the session because of time constraints).

No official set texts this week, instead:

Work on delivery of Project Brief 3.

From next week, come to the sessions with any work in progress. We will talk about how the workshopping process will proceed on Wednesday.

What do John Clarke and our studio have in common?

An inspiration not only for his work as a screenwriter – The Man Who Sued God (2001), script editor – The Adventures of Lano and Woodley (1997), creator – The Games (1998), master satirist – Clarke & Dawe (1989) and being a NZ national treasure, he also credits his time at university for sparking his creativity and maintained a blog right through to last month.

John Clarke (1948-2017). Let’s hope he’s gone to Another World…

Next Wednesday 12 April…

…is our last class before the mid-semester break, and your pitch presentations.

We will continue operation WWW (workshopping your wonderful worlds), and also go through what’s required of you in the pitch presentation and for Project Brief 3 more broadly.

Great workshops (and breakthroughs!) so far. The more you can bring to the workshop table, obviously, the more your collaborators have to work with.

If you’re thinking about your world between now and then, you might look back on our previous resources, brainstorms and activities, or this new reading from Robert McKee’s ‘Story’ (1999).

Look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 🙂
