Lou Hubbard’s art practice incorporates her fascination with power relations. It is expressed through actions or operations on materials and discovers how it is like to feel domination, subordination, pressure and thresholds of pain and rejection.
Lou Hubbard has been awarded residencies at Cité, Paris in 2004, Barcelona in 2012 and Antwerp in 2013. She was recently awarded the Guirguis National Contemporary Art Prize for her artwork, Dead Still Standing, in 2015.
Currently, she is the Head of Photography at the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne.
