I chose to research the history of Building 16 (Storey Hall) and was interested in it’s ‘hauntings of past inhabitations’ (Creswell 2004, p. 7). Upon first entering the building, I noticed an exposed brick wall on the first floor landing. To me, it was as if this wall had been preserved among the buildings reconstruction, and therefore represented a connection or even a portal from the present to the past. This inspired me to create a short experimental film in which viewers are taken “through the brick wall” and back in time to a specific event in the history of Storey Hall.
